First of all, many thanks to everyone who provided suggestions to=

help me track down the problem... this is a great community of=
 folks!

Well, I must say somewhat sheepishly that the problem was not=
 with
any of the components or the board itself. After conducting some=
 of
the tests recommended everything seemed to be OK. Then, while
checking the FCTR probe to make sure it wasn't backward I=
 happened to
move the connector at the control board and noticed a flash on=
 the
display indicating something had changed. I then began to move=
 the
connector and found that it was loose. After making sure that the=

mini connector pins on the coax were firmly installed in the
connection jack (i.e., the jack that connects to the control=
 board) I
repeated the test and everything is measuring out great.

Needless to say I am extremely relieved that I don't (yet) have=
 to do
any major resoldering, etc. since I'm not up to the thought of=
 that
prospect yet. Moral of the story... I made an FCTR probe that is=

slightly too short... resulting in a bad connection when I=
 plugged it
into TP2 due to the additional stretch/stress on the coax.

Many thanks once again!

.. Kirby (KB4UTZ)... (whew... dodged a bullet...)
