Thanks to Marvin K8XU I now have the answer: just feed the laptop with
the desired voltage from an H.F. friendly power supply.

I didn't consider this idea because an earlier laptop -even older- had
an internal switching converter which was "all over the bands" even when
fed of a battery. The Compaq runs silent on a battery, a fact I
overlooked !
