[Elecraft] KPA100 Split Question/Philosophy

I am not planning on splitting my K2, but I do find the project quite 
interesting.  I do have some questions about what has already been done.

1.  Why not use jacks and plugs on the EC2 enclosure?  Seeing all those 
cables in the back give me pause.  It doesn't seem flexible enough for 
me.  What happens if I want the amp more that just beside the rig.  Ok, add 
more cable.  Duh.  But why not use another BNC connector and the associated 
connectors for the control lines and such?  Just wondering....

2.  Also, the front of the EC2 with the amp looks...well...like and 
EC2.  Anyone given some thought as to placing a meter in the front 
panel?  Love to watch those meters bounce around.  OR some LEDs...power on 
LED...Xmit LED...RX LED...LED bargraph....SWR bargraph ... on off switch...

I guess I am a little flummoxed here since I just came in from working in 
the yard and am extremely tired.  Humid summer days in Kansas...really 
takes it out of you.  I gotta hit the shower.
