[Elecraft] PA100 part substitution???

Hi Art... I refuse to believe that you can shatter a core with nothing but
your hands and the wire. It was already flawed.

As for the capacitors, it works in decades of three: 1 mfd is 1000 nf; 1nf
therefore, is 0.001 mfd. Your markings are consistent with 0.033mfd =
"33n"fd and 0.015 mfd = "15n"fd . The convention is either 15n or
15nf-usually the "d" is left out for "nf" and pf".

It continues on through pf as well: 1 nf = 1000 pf. So... 0.001 mfd = 1 nf
= 1000 pf.

Finally, a 1 mfd capacitor is a 105. Usually when style of nomenclature is
used, there are some other letters describing tolerance, etc. So, your 33nf
would/should have been a 333... NOT a 332. If the manual says that, it is
incorrect. Apparently the right part with the wrong nomenclature.

P.S. The ONE place where this gets a little flaky is on mica capacitors.
Sometimes a 100 really IS a 100 pf capacitor, and NOT the 10 x 10 to the
zero the MIL number would mean.
