Thanks to all 22 of you who sent their recommendations and comments.
All have been taken into consideration.  I must admit that almost 100%
of you said "buy the 4-band module version" so, after doing a bit of an
adjustment in funds, I think I can manage the 4-band kit after all.

I do have a good soldering station and a pair of magnifiers which I really
do need too! ;)  Having been contacted by a local QRP group, I can now
rely on assistance no only from one of the most helpful and friendly lists
I have ever been part of but, from ham acquaintances locally who are also
K1 and K2 enthusiasts.  I am looking forward to many hours of fun building
and using my new K1.  Sure will be a neat fathers' day gift!
