[Elecraft] K3 Ideas

Bigger case ?  YES

Bigger, better tuning knob ?  YES

I have been lurking on this list for quite a while now while saving up to 
buy an Elecraft.   Just an observation.  Elecraft is in the "big time" 
now.  Maybe not the sales volume of an Icon or Yaesu, but what the 
heck.  Those guys seem to compromise something everything they come to 
market with a new product and have to shake the kinks out with a "II" , 
"PRO" or "MARK V" update to get the product they originally envisioned. 
Elecraft has set the gold standard for rcvrs and that's just a fact.  Must 
feel nice guys to have a major company running around trying to put a new 
100 watt rig on the market to keep up with you for a change !

My suggestion is simple.  If you do envision a K3, move it from the 
"backpacker" model to the "home QTH" model.  Put everything optional now 
under the hood, in a larger, more substantial case, with more amenity type 
knobs and externals, and finally, (for my own soapbox) build a "Rigblaster 
(tm)" type sound card interface into the chassis.  Now that would be a 
radio !!!!!
