[Elecraft] Internal Battery

Hi all,

Under the heading of "it just goes to show ya" I'd like to report that
I've ignored the persistent comments by Gary and the rest of the Elecraft
staff that the K2 runs at optimum power output when using a 14 volt power
supply.

Up until today I've been using a 12 volt external battery and have been
wondering why I'm only getting about 4 or 5 watts out on 10 meters... it
just HAD to be those pesky transformer windings. So, as I got ready to pull
the transformers and re-wind them I spotted a dusty 13.8 power supply
sitting on a shelf and decided to give it a try.

Holy voltage! the power out on 10 meters about doubled and forty was well
into double digits!

So I'm a believer (finally).

Although I'm still a bit of a purist and like to stay below 5 watts, its
nice to know that the rig is performing the way it was designed (no thanks
to my stubbornness).

My question is regarding the internal battery option. Does it put out 14
volts +/- ?

I've read the on-line manual and its not exactly clear. I like the idea of
having the battery inside the cabinet but the added weight seems to be
holding me back.. I'll probably go for it though if it will improve the
overall performance of the rig.

Thanks in advance for your replies and thanks to Gary for his advice (even
if it took me forever to take it).
