[Elecraft] The mouse that killed the KAT

My K2 s/n 1018 was attacked by a mouse, wo did the most
horrible things inside, not mentioning chewing up some cables
in the KAT2. He most probably entered via the open RS232
hole, which I was planning to cover. But living on an Caribbean
island changes your life a bit and you think that everything can
be done tomorrow. Well, in this case tomorrow was too late.
I started to get a lot of weird error messages. I disconnected the
KAT2 and all the error messages disappeared and everything
looked normal, except for that the receiver seems to be dead (sniff).
All the relays seems to work fine but the mouse did his things on
several components on the RF board.
I am now asking you good folks out there to give me an advice how
to best clean up the mess before I start the fault finding. Can I use alcohol?
There is no way to find any special products here on the island.
My K2 has been through a lot the past two years, starting in Brasil and now
here on Guadeloupe. It is usually quite humid here and in Brasil and she
did not seem to have any problems with that. The temperature here is
normally 30 C during the day.
The transmitter section seems to work just fine. I guess I will do all the tests
in the manual and this will be a real challenge for me. I will keep you posted.
But first of all I wish to clean up the board before starting with other serious things.
