[Elecraft] K2 40M/PLL problem

I received a couple of direct e-mails about the issue
described below. To be clear, the freq probe is
working (it reads the BFO freq properly as well as TP1
(VCO) when using CAL--FCNT) as best I can tell. I am
also on 40 meters. The best I can say is that the
calibration is failing because the PLL steps are out
of spec (maybe?) or in some other way not responding
like the software calibration routine wants....

I have noticed that there are one or two places in the
tuning range where the freq seems to jump several
steps when crossing a particular freq. It is hard to
tell this is happening unless there happens to be a CW
signal right at this spot as I am tuning across.
General band noise makes the jumps very hard to
detect. I will check more carefully to see how much
this is happening. Maybe this is the source of the
problem?? Are there any known points where the PLL
does not step properly?

Thanks for the inputs.
