No...see...the idea behind Java is you *don't* "port" things. The same 
code runs everywhere. The USB support for Java is still under 
development. I'm not going to destroy the portability just so you can 
have a native-code USB module.

And don't try to teach granmaw how to suck eggs, boy. :-)

USB is not yet a mature technology for anything but consumer electronics 
(and even there sometimes it's shaky; try some of the early Compaq 
Pressarios for a demo).

But you and Rich are certainly free to go ahead and build a USB 
interface for the radio yourself...You may even be done by the time the 
Java USB support for Windows is ready; today it only runs in Linux. :-)

And again, there's always those serial USB dongles...$40 a pop.
