Make you measure all DC voltages for RX and report any that are not what 
the manual specifies.

A closer look at the audio amplifiers have shown nothing at fault; I'm begining to suspect something is wrong in the AGC circuit, maybe. Placing the AGC in the off or on positions makes a swithching sound (pop) but no difference in the signal heard, is this OK? I think not.
