Actually, you'll have at least three options for this extra SPLIT
indicator: OFF, ON, and FLASH.

It may also be optionally applicable to RIT/XIT--equally problematic if
you forget they're on!

All of this stuff will be turned off by default, so it will not affect
existing users.
