The sideband reversal from 12 MHz and up is the 'price' we pay for the
good quality of the K2 receiver - single conversion superheterodyne -
with the oscillator above the input frequency up to and including the 17
m band and below it for the higher bands. The oscillator could probably
have been above the input frequency on all bands, but frequency
stability and maybe other parameters as well would have suffered.

That's because the K2 reverses the sidebands on 21 Mhz and above, and
MixW 
does not.  I don't know any other radio that does this, so It might be 
something else you could ask Nick to do to make MixW more compatible
with 
the K2.
