[Elecraft] K1 and Ant on high amp car battery

Tom -- pardon me, but I really don't understand this question. If you put
an item designed for 12 volts into a 12 volt circuit, it will draw just
what it wants (provided the source capacity is there) and no more. There is
no need to put something in line with it. I'm also confused exactly what
the situation is "when you put the antenna switch to the battery." But the
result of what's happening seems to indicate that, when you throw the
antenna switch, you are virtually shorting the battery circuit, through the
fuse, to ground. Please describe the circuit that you call the "antenna
switch" in more detail. Is this a t/r relay? and, if so, what is the coil
voltage of the relay? ac or dc? etc.?
thanks,
