I wonder if the reason some people are having problems with 
mushy USB is because their USB to serial convertors are not
aligned correctly?

In more serious news - I had one of my first serious RX tests
for my new K2 last light on 160 meters.  EA3JE was heard on 
1830.  I tried to listen to his signal with my TS850, but quickly
determined that the K2 was the better receiver.

The first problem the 850 had was a small carrier on 1830 from 
AM broadcast overload.  I have two AM broadcast stations withing
a few miles of me - one on 1190 and the other on 1230.  I have a
quarter wave stub on the line to null them out and that makes
the 850 almost useable.  However, the K2 had no carrier there 
at all.

Using the narrow filter seemed to make the signal easier to copy
as well.  It might be wishful thinking on my part, but I feel like
the signal on the K2 wasn't being affected as much by the QRN
as it was on the 850.

So - in round one of the 850 versus K2 battle, the K2 came out
with an early lead.
