[Elecraft] WWV for calibration.

Keys are not always safer. I was at a party once, and accidentally heard =
WG4T on cw. I just had to get that into the log, but Richard (KR4W) =
didn't have a key. His rigs (I don't remember what kind, but they had =
fire-bottles inside, and the transmitter was about the size of a =
footlocker, as was the receiver) keyed an 800v line. I found a pair of =
alligator clip leads, and with one held on the desk, and the other in my =
keying hand, I got the contact. Not very fast, tho.

I think it's just wonderful the K2 keys on 5v. I probably am remembering =
some of this wrong, because they didn't give 1x3's to novices. I guess I =
started as a Technician or General. I know I only upgraded twice. I know =
I never had a 2x2. Anyone remember the "old" callsign rules? (Sometime =
between 1979 and 1981).

One has to wonder what Dan said into his microphone on this (obviously)=20
momentous occasion?
Keys are obviously safer in that respect.
