Okay Peter, you got me; I hooked up my K2 to a dummy load and tried it.

I can hear them too, only I get them both in normal and reverse CW mode.
They are louder in CW reverse.

They require that the audio gain be nearly full up.

They only happen on the initial "key down" transition in a series of dots
at, say 25 wpm, no matter what the t-r setting is (using a manual "bug". not
paddles, so I am not using the internal keyer).

They are slightly more audible in wide filter bandwidths.

They are audible even when the rig is in "test" mode and not making r-f.

As an "old school" cw operator, I run the K2 with the Audio Gain up and use
the R-F Gain to control the volume most of the time. It sounds like you do
too. I had never noticed the 'clicks' in normal operation because the audio
'thump' on the initial "make" is much louder to my ears.

If you hadn't brought it up I'd have never noticed it so it doesn't
represent a 'defect' to me. Perhaps the reason I didn't hear it is that my
hearing does have a lot of 'holes' in it, thanks to damage resulting from
lots of time close to weapons fire in the US Army years ago.
