[Elecraft] K2: Strange Jey Clicks in Rx Audio

I recently posted the following message, and although I received one or
two replies from other K2 users who said they, too, could hear the same
effect in their rig, I was disappointed not to see any response from the
Elecraft boys. I'll re-post the comments in the hope that somebody can
offer an explanation for this puzzling 'problem'. Remember, the rig has
to be in 'CW Reverse' for the effect to be noticed, with the audio gain
pretty high:
--------------------
I have a strange, and annoying, problem with key 'clicks' on the receive
audio of my K2 which I will try to explain as concisely as possible:
The effect only occurs on the transition from receive to transmit.
It is only noticeable with the audio gain control advanced quite a long
way up. The best way to hear it is to connect the rig's output to a
dummy load, turn the audio gain near flat out, and listen as the rig
keys from receive to transmit.
BUT - and here's the puzzling bit - it only happens with the rig set to
'CW reverse' (ie with the dash showing above the "c" on the rig's
display). Regardless of band, filter setting, power, etc, the only cure
is to set the rig to 'CW normal'.
The effect manifests itself as a definite audio click, or tick,
superimposed on the normal very low level thump which is detectable on
the K2's transition between receive and transmit.
I had wondered if the fault might have appeared as a result of
installing my KAF2, but switching the filter out of circuit (with the
switch on the KAF2 board) makes no difference. However, if KAF2 is in
circuit, and set to its CW bandpass position, then the click is masked.
Gary, Eric, Wayne, gang .. any clues?
