Rich,
I have found the lengths of wire specified in the manual to be a bit on the
long side. I guess that is better than being short and unable to reach the
hole! <g>.
I would be inclined to trim the wire as required to bring the toroid core
down close to the board. OTOH, you can just bend the excess out to the side
and accomplish the same thing. I chose to trim the wire on my KAT2 just
because it looks more neat and clean. I can't believe that you will notice
any electrical difference since the inductance added by putting a bend in
the wire leads will be quite small.
