Well, to get our minds off the double post thing, it's time to start a new
free-for-all thread:

Starting to consider ideas for FD this year - bet there will be lots of
all-EC stations out there! I was wondering if anybody has actual experience
in how long the K1 can reliably hang in there on a single 7AH gel cel, for
instance. Of course, I suppose a good trolling motor battery would run this
thing for a year, but the lighter the better. And I happen to have a couple
of new 7AH gel cels sitting around.

Question two:  What setups have Elecraft FD'ers used for solar power, and
what problems have been experienced? I'm especially interested in coming up
with a compact, reasonably-priced solar setup, both for FD and for future
mountaintop activities. Are there particular websites or specialized sellers
of *small-package* solar stuff? Most of the solar related things I've seen
in magazines, etc. are the heavy duty rigs for powering outlets,
refrigerators, and lights in some burned-out ex-hippie's condo outside Taos.
Ex flower child I ain't. I spent my Vietnam time in Vietnam.
