When I mention the hi-fi aspect, I am not talking about frequency response.
I am more interested in how the system responds to multiple signals in the passband
(which will include some noise). I am not looking for infinite S/N ratio,
rather - a true representation of the spectrum that I am listening to
without distortion.

I operate 99.9 percent CW. Getting narrow isn't my goal - having about 400 or
500 hertz bandwidth is sufficient, and after that, I let my brain do the
rest. I just don't want the radio adding stuff that isn't relevant for my
brain to deal with.
