You should be able to use it, at least temporarily... I think I'd still
consider replacing it later, just for aesthetic reasons.

90% chance you accidently moved S1 on the Control Board, from its INT (12V)
position to the EXT position which disconnects the supply voltage
motitoring from the CPU and produces the precise symptoms you mention.
