[Elecraft] K2 Alignment Problem

Why is this proceedure necessary? Okay, okay, I realise its
done to make the thing work but why do the trimmers have to
be abused this way to make them work?

Once they work do they have to be excercised again after the
K2 is unused for a time?

Sounds like a need for better quality trimmers, or do all
trimmers behave this way?
