Hi All,

On further investigation, the HC-4 actually provides sufficient O/P to drive
My K2 to full SSB O/P. The problem may be just with my K2 in that the VOX
gain may be lower than normal and without some extra gain ahead the K2 the
VOX would not trip without shouting! More gain added > VOX now trips OK >
but Balanced Modulator total over-load!

Tom/N�SS suggested increasing the value of R14 from 1K to 10K. This has
increased the gain nicely and it's now just high enough for the VOX to work
with a normal voice. BUT there is now too much gain for the Balanced
Modulator. So I have increased the value of R2 from 5.6K to 10K and the
reduction is sufficient to produce nice sounding SSB as before. That's OK
for the HC-4. Now no need for any additional pre-amplification.

suggestions.

I worked Doug/K0JU in Denver on Ten meters this afternoon who said the K2
audio sounded nice, crisp and clear . . . . "how much power you say yr
using?" (12 Watts ).
