[Elecraft] Sparky strikes again!

For very tiny orders, www.radioshack.com can be pretty good. They have a
much different list of items than the stores, and they have very good
shipping on very small orders. rs.com also has some excellent deals on
quantities. It's always worth checking the 10 and 100 price from them, even
if you only need 2. Sometimes 100 is only a little more, but you never can
tell until you put in 100 for the quantity. But you need to beware ... when
the order price goes up, so does their shipping, and you get up a little bit
in price and suddenly DigiKey becomes a much better deal, since they charge
you the actual shipping, which is usually still $5.00 for a whole pile of
components. Plus, to get here from Texas, rs's economy shipping takes
forever. DigiKey takes 2 days, no matter how you ship, so I can always
choose the cheapest shipping.

Alternatively, figure out what else you could use from DigiKey. Not only is
the UPS shipping $5 (at least to here, $4.90 actually) but they have a
charge for small orders, too, so it's better to order from them in a bunch.
But then, I never seem to have a problem finding $100 worth of stuff I
'need' at DigiKey.

If Diz (http://kitsandparts.com) has it, his shipping is excellent, as are
his prices. However, he has a pretty small and eclectic stock.
(Unfortunately I notice he's closed right now, apparently escaping the Ohio
winter.)

At the end of the day, tho, it's a lot more convenient to keep the parts you
might need in stock. If you don't do a lot of building, this is kind of a
pain, tho.
