Good point Don, End fed dipole benefits from counterpoise to reference the
feedline shield.
I was speaking only about center fed dipoles, as I have not wanted to have
the chore of finding a coil and capacitor for high voltage end feed network.

Actually, those capacitors keep turning up at swaps, (Very high voltage
ones), and prices are not too bad. Also, one can order a high voltage
variable capacitor kit from Ten Tec, which would tune a base feed network.

A coil can be found or wound, thus the end feed is within the reach of home
builders. But, I avoid a high voltage network that must be protected from
birds, animals, kids, etc.

The end of the antenna can be elevated above reach and suitably marked to
avoid contact when center feeding. The ends as any dipole, will be high
voltage points needing suitable insulators.
