I've seen occasional jumps of one VFO step when I'm not even touching the
radio. I guess that if one of the sensors in the optical encoder is right
on the transition point, slight voltage fluctuations caused by keying could
cause it to go on off on off, thereby moving the VFO.

Does using the LOCK button on the front panel prevent it?
