[Elecraft] k1 advice

Howdy! I will soon be a K1/MP-1 combo owner(order is in the mail). This will primarily be a portable setup since I live in a restricted place and go away from home to college every 9 months which is even more restrictive. Ive also ordered the internal battery kit for that reason.

On occasion i will be able to operate the radio indoors with an outside antenna(school club). What is a decent power supply for the rig.Ive read most of the archives but they mainly deal with the K2.  Can i power it up using a 12V 1A wallwart from Jameco/RS/electronic store? What are other solutions? Anyone know of any other batteries that fit in the internal holder other than RadioShack? I heard some Mahas do but Elecraft posts read some dont.
