You sound like another victim of the "quick and dirty licensing" system we
have adopted Sam, with no basic sending test to pass before you get your
license.

I can almost guarantee that if you start using a keyboard you will never
learn either the straight key or paddles well.

Start with a straight key and when you are happy with forming nice, clean
characters that please you and draw compliments from other ops, you can then
go on to learn paddles.

Accuracy before speed, as the FISTS ops say. I'm happy to work you at 5 wpm
on the air, if that's your top speed sending clean CW. And if you get on the
air and make QSO's you will build up your accuracy and speed quickly.

Keyboards are fine. Keyboards have their place. But saying that you will use
a keyboard until you learn a straight key or paddles is like saying that you
are going to use a camera to take pictures until you learn to paint.
