[Elecraft] When dumbness?

My KPA 100 isn't fully assembled yet and, thankfully, I still have my wits.
Apparently I haven't "crossed over", yet.

My question is this: at what stage of KPA 100 assembly does one become
"dumb"?  I ask this not for myself, but for my family. And does "it" happen
right away or do you drift into it?  Does the use of a "dummy load" speed
the transition?
