QST published reviews of several switching power supplies in January
and September, 2000. If you are a member, the are available from the
ARRL web site. Most of the supplies have noise which increases below
10 MHz, but the MFJ-4225MV, Kenwood PS-40 and Diamond GZV4000 appear to
have the least noise at the lower frequencies (measurements were made
from 1.5-100 MHz). The Icom PS-85 appears to be the noisiest.
I have the Alinco DM-330MV, which looked about the best at higher
frequencies and have not noticed any noise on 160, but I am
antenna-impaired on that band so have very little experience there.
This supply has an adjustment where you can move the noise frequency
around, but I have yet to see any effects.
