This won't help, the oscilaltors are not locked to a reference.  The VCO is
tied to a reference that is deliberately pulled to provide tuning steps of
less than 54 kHz, and the BFO is likewise deliberately pulled to make it
variable.

This has promise as long as the introduced phase noise is low enough.  One
the the K2's reasons for great signals is its very clean oscillators...
