How about a retrofit oven controlled xtal (OCXO)?? I havn't had much to do
with them for many years, but a quick search on gargoyle seems to show
hundreds of references. If the temperature of the OCXO is set higher than
that of the highest normal internal temp of a K2 with the KPA100 fitted,
then presumably the oven can keep the xtal at pretty much the same temp in
all conditions. Presumably even a thermister and a properly biased 2n3055
(as heater)  glued to the xtal can would make a simple heat controller.

Also, what about the late pa0ksb's huf-&-puff approach to vfo
stabilisation??
I've not looked, but I would have thought someone has already reinvented
this wheel with modern low-cost PICs &tc.
