Not a significant problem, given fairly average ops.  Given the versatility 
of the radio, it gets used in all kinds of bizarre conditions.  I did the 
BFO mod because the BFO was somewhat temperature sensitive. If I operated 
the rig at say 40 F, the pitch of LSB signals had increased noticeably. In 
my shack, it has always been as solid as a rock.

BUT ALSO keep in mind, that since you do not already have a K2, you will 
get all of these great improvements in your kit. The various mod kits are 
offered to owners of older versions of the radio to stay current with the 
"art of the K2"

To put it in perspective, here is a radio that many folks have had several 
years, and the manufacturer produces a kit of parts WITH instructions for 
the bankrupting price of $10 (the BFO/PLL mod kit), that makes your radio 
work even better. You CAN try this at home.
