The things Armstrong accomplished during WWI are well known.  Regeneration
and the Super regen receivers are two.  Between wars he perfected FM as used
in broadcasting.  He did the superhet receiver back before WW2, and liked to
climb on high antenna masts.  I am not aware of anything he or others did
during WW2 that has not already made the unclassified scientific
literature,and much of the popular electronic press as well.  You can find
much of the war time sensitive electronics in a number of books on war time
electronics discoveries, and some has been published in CQ magazine and
Communications Quarterly.  There are a couple of books out on WW2 and later
spy radios, and other gadgets.
