[Elecraft] Weird synthesizer problem

Hi all -=20
I am building K2 serial number 3073 and have reached "Alignment and =
Test, Part II".  This my fourth K2.

When I activate CAL Fctr, all is well, all voltages normal (BFO a little =
off, but OK), all VFO frequencies OK, voltages within 2.0-6.0 range at =
R30.

However, when I exit CAL mode and return to receive, the synthesizer =
stops synthesizing.  Voltage at R30 drops to zero, background noise =
drops in headphones, no action.  If I return to CAL Fctr (or CAL =
anything), the synthesizer comes to life.  If in CAL Fctr mode, I can =
tune the radio, listen to signals on 40 meters, etc.

Has anyone else experienced this?  What have I done!!  Gary is helping, =
and would appreciate any input from the reflector.
