[Elecraft] Still Howling

I am still getting the feedback/howling/loud tone impressesed over the =
sidetone on my K1. Tom N0SS suggested that it could be the offset test =
switch not turning off, but it does. I can hear the regular offset tone =
when the switch is on, but I will check it again. It worked just the way =
it was supposed to through all of the testing and alignment. I finished =
the alignment, then completed the final assembly. I put it on the zepp =
with the antenna tuner to make the first Q, it was howling. The only =
thing tghat I did was put it together and put it on the antenna tuner. I =
am still getting over 5 watts out. The howl does not track with the =
volume control, I cannot make it quieter by adjusting the side tone =
down, sit it is independant from that. If I adjust the offset so there =
is no offset, then I can hear just the sidetone and no howling. Sure =
seems kinda like offset RF feedback? I am stumped and really =
disappointed with my lack of ability to find it. I am hoping that some =
of you Elecraft gurus on the list can help. I am pretty sure that it is =
not the sidetone generator feeding back. What do you think? It also does =
not increase or decrease in intensity with the power out. 1 watt howls =
as much as 5 watts.
