The LDG tuners initiate an auto tune by sensing a high SWR. The K2's only responsibility is to put out an RF carrier. If the SWR presented to the K2 by the "untuned" tuner is very high it may be possible that the K2 (in order to protect its output stage) does not put out enough RF in order for the tuner to sense the need to retune. I'm not sure why you needed some special connection in order to use it with the 756PRO unless it was the same sort of problem.

You might try placing the K2 in the CW mode and keying it with a straight key to get enough power for the tuner to initiate an auto tune rather than using the K2's tune function (which cuts the output power back). Try it with perhaps a 5 watt output setting on the K2.

This by the way is one of the benefits of the SGC tuners. They sense RF frequency and phase in addition to SWR in order to tune.
