[Elecraft] SPOT, Gone but not forgotten

HI Folks,

	My SPOT function has left from my K2(02097.)  Well, I can 
hear it extremely faintly if I disconnect the antenna and have no 
other sound, but it certainly has become useless. I have poured over 
the Owners Manual and the only reference to the SPOT that I can find 
is how to use it(when it is working of course.) I have also reviewed 
the Schematics and find very little to go by. There is the 
switch(S11) which conceivable has gone bad, there is a diode(D5, 
Front Panel Board) which could be week, then it goes into U3, a shift 
register. The other functions of U3 seem to be working properly, so I 
doubt that it is a problem.

	Has anyone else had this problem? I am hoping to find out if 
there is a way to test the switch to see if it is working without 
removing it from the Front Panel Board. Also, since I have never had 
to test diodes before, I was hoping I could learn how to do that too. 
I have also been through the menus hoping to find some setting for 
the spot function but have been unsuccessful. I have one friend with 
a K1 and he says there is something on the K1 in the menus relating 
to the SPOT function.

	I know that I can still use the rig without the spot, but I 
want my rig to be working properly in all ways.

	I am on Digest mode, so if it is not a problem I would 
appreciate a direct mail of a CC if you post to the list with some 
suggestions.
