After taking a closer look at the KAT100 pix that Eric
posted, it looks like integrating the KAT100 and the KPA100
in an EC2 may be pretty easy. The pix show a 'P4 Aux'
connector (looks like it could be attached to the ribbon
cable on the KPA100 for auxbus info), a 'P3 12V' connector
that could come from the KPA100 to provide 12V to the KAT,
and another connector by the BNC jack on the rear panel that
could be used for the RF input to the KPA100. Using these
connectors to mate the KPA and KAT100 together in an EC2
would require only a BNC terminated jumper cable from the K2,
and the 'Y' DB-15 serial connector from the K2. And
a PL259 terminated cable between the KAT and the KPA. 12V for
the tuner and KAT would come from the 20A supply to the KPA.
All that would be needed is a drilled and silk screened EC2
front panel for the LED's (how about a speaker cut out on the
front panel also?), and a new rear panel for the EC2 with
the various connector locations punched out and silk screened.
finally, I'd be able to run the K2 both base and mobile without
taking the cover off and swapping each time!
