[Elecraft] Any K2/100 CW/SSB users with an Oscilloscope?

Hi

I agree with George Your ALC is not working

I connected my K2/100 to an Autek WM1 peak reading watt meter and set the=
output for 50 watts on CW into a dummy load then changed to SSB mode and=
I could not make the peak reading go above 50 watts no matter how loud I=
talked or whistled. This is what I would expect a properly ALC circuit t=
o do. You may want to check the setting of R26 in the KPA100 watt/SWR met=
er circuit. The setting is critical for proper operation of the ALC. Most=
of the time the problem is the external watt meter used to calibrate the=
KPA100 is off so the KPA100 is off also. Try backing off the drive a lit=
tle by turning R26 clockwise!! a little at a time to see if the ALC works=
a little better. If this improves the ALC action try calibrating R26 at =
50 or 100 watts instead of 10 watts. Make sure your external wattmeter is=
accurate. A little movement of R26 makes a big change in the power out a=
nd the current draw. This pot works opposite from the way you would expec=
t. Clockwise reduces drive and counterclockwise increases drive.

Don't have a K2, et al, but sounds like your ALC is not functioning. With
proper ALC action, the r-f envelope on SSB should not - actually could no=
t
- exceed the power limit set for CW operation. I am speaking in terms of =
my
non-Elecraft radios since I have not looked at a K2 output with a scope, =
as
I do with my other rigs.

Hope this is of some help but my lack of experience with Elecraft equipme=
nt
is showing! <:}
