[Elecraft] k2 U4, U5 sacrew/washer

Hi ya'll,
Again in the cause of cautious building: on page 16 of K2 manual the voltage
regulators U4, U5,  by the time I add a washer there isn't enough thread
showing to apply the nut!  The mounting tabs are metal.  I've tried for over
30 minutes, neither will accept the nut with the washer in place.  I think
I'll just hit the hardware store and get a pair of screws a couple of mm
longer and put myself out of misery. Other ideas?  Tnx....I just want this
baby to fire up the first time  :)
