Thank you everyone for your respones to my question about using a solder gun
on the power transistors for the amp. It is about 50/50 in the answers. Here
is what I decided and why. I went to Home Depot this afternoon. They had a
Weller Solder Gun kit with 3 tips and solder for around $24.00 I ended up
with the Weller 100/140 gun. I needed some brass welding rod for another
project. I got out of the store for under $30.00. A lot of you stated a
solder station with a wide tip at 700 degrees worked fine. I purchased the
gun because it will put out a lot of heat quickly and allows one get in and
out on the joints quickly. I hate having to linger in heating components
that absorb a lot of heat. The second reason I purchased the gun is for
other around the shack projects. I am not sure how many of you tried to
solder something outside or on a mountain top. I am constantly doing both.
It was time to get something that will put out a lot of heat in a hurry. The
price was right as well. I would have liked to have gotten the 230 watt gun.
Home Depot only had the 100/140 watt version and the price was right.

Thanks again to all who replied. I look forward to starting the amp on
Tuesday when my wife will give it to me,
