Been there and done that.  The wires go to connections on the board
marked for the color of the wire.  This isn't a simple circuit and
trying to understand it without a schematic is beyond my abilities.
However, the speaker works so well without amplification that I've
ceased to worry about it.  My thanks to everyone who responded to my
original plea for help and to Tom N0SS for putting the documentation on
his website.  There seems to be a slew of different Motorola speakers
and one would expect differences between them.
