Like Paul said, generally if you have an Internet connection your ISP gives
you a certain amount a space as part of the deal. That is where I started
out. I think I have something like 10 meg with mine. Hams can also go to
qsl.net - the ham who runs it give free space - but he does suggest some
donation to the cause. That would generally be less than commercial
hosting. You can also get your own domain name - not too expensive - then
there are plenty of hosting companies around that will sell you space for
under $10 a month. Just do a web search on Internet hosting.
I've used my space for the basic website, to share photes with friends and
family, and just this past week when the XYL had some puppies she wanted to
sell I put up photos of them and the mom up for people to look at.
