Hi

Just as a point of interest, speakers used in Juke Box's could be had for=
almost nothing in the mid 60's. These speakers were 15 inches in diamete=
r had an electromagnet instead of the usual magnet. In the tube type ampl=
ifier power supply the speaker magnet coil was used as a filter choke in =
a pi arrangement to supply the B+ for the amp tubes (usually a pair of 6L=
6's). We would send the speakers to a re-cone shop and have a HiFi cone i=
nstalled and build a 150 volt DC supply to power the magnet. Mounted in a=
5 or 6 cubic foot base reflex enclosure, they made one heck of a woofer.=
A pair of these could put a lot of rock band woofers to shame ;-) Sorry=
for the off topic I just thought someone might get a laugh at what we di=
d to scrounge back then for stereo equipment - kinda like ham radio alway=
s has been.
