Talk about radios that glow in the dark. My "Elmer", W2FIJ, in Baldwin
NY ran a radio/TV repair shop and I'd drop in every day after school
and bug him for an hour or two. I learned LOTS of things, especially
that you can't (well, you CAN) hang a meter movement calibrated in
volts across a battery and expect anything good to happen. I had to
do a lot of tube testing to pay that one off!

Anyway, the glow in the dark part...Ralph's rig (CW only of course)
wound up with a pair of 6L6GTs putting out 500 watts. Submerged
in transformer oil of course! And, yes, I know you can't see a 6L6GT
glow.
