Hi all,
I noticed, a week or so ago, that my CW reception was suddenly much lower in
strenght than the SSB reception.
I took out the ksb2 and wired the w2 and w3 so I could check the CW
reception in this way.
That seemed to be OK.
So, the problem had to be in the KSB2 module,
I measured the switching networks around D10--D13 and around D6--D9. The
values indicated were way off in the D6--D9 network.
After further investigations I discovered that the junction of c10-R5-RFC2
whas at ground level.
I thouht there was a short in C10, took it out, but the junction was still
at ground level.
R5 was OK and rfc2 could be the problem. By carefully inspecting the
surroundings of RFC2 ( it is very near to the grounded can of X5 ) I found
out that one of the windings made contact with the sharp edge of X5 thus
shorting the junction to groundlevel. When I moved RFC2 a little, the
problem was solved.
Now there is a thick piece of plastic sheet between RFC2 and X5.
End of story.
( So be carefull with the spacing between components and the sharp edges of
those X-tal-cans.)
