[Elecraft] Solar power

Since I enjoy backpacking and having been bitten by the QRP bug (a K2 is on
the way) I'm also interested in taking the K2 on hikes/camping, etc.

Being new to the portable scene I'm fairly ignorant concerning the newer
battery technologies (Ni-mH, Lithium Ion, etc.) and the care & feeding
thereof.

I'm also interested in learning how to use solar power to keep batteries
charged. I'm sure there's more to know/be concerned about than just plugging
up a solar panel to a battery via a controller. For instance, I'd like to
know how to determine the proper charge rates/times/etc.for particular
technologies.

Can anyone get me started? (Please feel free to email me directly). Anyone
know of any good websites with good amateur radio oriented solar power info?
