Fluke 77, or 12 model are great, but for general ham use today at less than
750 Volts full scale, Harbor Freight has a China made 3 1/2 digit DMM that
also measures diodes, and has a Beta (Hfe) test for transistors, and
universal transistor sockets for any pin out orientation, really neat!
Never again do you need to bend the leads to fit a particular set of three
holes, for this multipin socket has holes labeled for EBC or ECB etc. Best
of all the price is under $10. This meter has a fuse inside, so is
protected. It even has a 10A current scale but is pocket size for work
shirt pocket. Comes with probes with 32 inch leads, to mini banana plugs.
Just got mine, and so far so good.
